About Moravia Heritage Review
An independent editorial resource on the folk traditions, seasonal ceremonies, and cultural calendar of the Moravian region of the Czech Republic.
What This Resource Documents
Moravia Heritage Review was established in Brno as an independent editorial archive focusing on the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Moravia — the eastern portion of the Czech Republic that retains one of the densest concentrations of living folk tradition in Central Europe.
Content is produced through direct documentation, interviews with folk societies and individual practitioners, and analysis of published ethnographic literature from Czech academic institutions including the Institute of Ethnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the National Institute of Folk Culture in Strážnice.
This resource does not promote tourism products, sell access to events, or represent any festival organisation. Its purpose is to provide factual, sourced documentation of Moravian folk customs for researchers, educators, and individuals with a cultural interest in the subject.
Areas of Documentation
- Seasonal ceremonial calendar from Masopust through Advent
- Regional folk costume traditions (kroj) across Slovacko, Hornatko, Wallachia, and Hana sub-regions

- UNESCO-listed practices: Jizda Kralu (Ride of Kings) and Carnival Masquerade Processions
- Harvest and wine-country festivals of southern Moravia
- Advent and winter customs in both urban and village settings
